After her death, I couldn’t start dieting right away, I wasn’t ready for it at least in my head, spiritually. It took me a long time to mourn her death. Last January, when my girlfriend Verity suggested I try the “Slimming world” diet, I knew this is my ‘now or never’ moment. To be honest, I never believed it could work. I’ve tried so many other diets before, but I gave up all of them because they never brought the results I wanted – not so fast.

When I started my diet, I lost 5.9 pounds in the first week. I lost weights in the next week and the other. The more I lost weight, the more determined I became. The hardest part about dieting was when I had lunch or dinner at a restaurant.

I asked the waiter so many questions about the food that I almost felt embarrassed, but I needed to know that my selected dish can what I chose fit into my Slimming world diet or not. It was also bad when my friends asked me if I wasn’t sick, that I lost so much weight so quickly. I got rid of 160 pounds in one year, which is unbelievable for me too – my mother would surely be very proud of me.

The Slimming World diet is from England and conquered the whole world. Its success is due to its simplicity, you don’t need to count calories. During the Slimming world diet, green and red days alternate. On green days, in addition, you can eat vegetables and fruits, in unlimited quantities. You can freely eat carbohydrates (whole grains, brown rice, potatoes), only lean meats, fish, and eggs. On red days you should limit your carbohydrate consumption.

Monday: ‘Red day’

  • Breakfast: Scrambled eggs from two eggs with any vegetables
  • Ten o’clock: a glass of yogurt
  • Lunch: 15 dkg Grilled sea fish with mixed green garnish
  • Snack: an apple
  • Dinner: tomato-mozzarella salad

Tuesday: ‘Green Day’

  • Breakfast: Porridge with fruits
  • Ten o’clock: a mug of latte with bran biscuits
  • Lunch: Wholegrain spaghetti with tomato sauce and parmesan
  • Snack: a banana
  • Dinner: Vegetable broth with pasta

Wednesday : ‘Red Day’

  • Breakfast: Two boiled eggs with tomatoes and cucumber
  • Ten o’clock: a cup of cashews
  • Lunch: 15 dkg Grilled chicken breast with Greek salad (iceberg lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, olives, feta cheese)
  • Snack: a pear
  • Dinner: Broccoli cream soup (or any other vegetable cream soup)

Thursday : ‘Green day’

  • Breakfast: Wholegrain toast bread with eggplant cream
  • Ten o’clock: a Glass of kefir with oatmeal biscuits
  • Lunch: Zucchini stuffed with sheep’s curd and brown rice
  • Snack: an apple
  • Dinner: Mixed green salad with toast

Friday: ‘Red Day’

  • Breakfast: Any fruit, even more
  • Ten o’clock: a Celery stalk with dipping
  • Lunch: 15 dkg Grilled fish with steamed vegetables
  • Snack: a glass of latte
  • Dinner: Chicken breast with garlic and spinach salad

Saturday : ‘Green day’

  • Breakfast: wholemeal toast with chickpea cream
  • Ten o’clock: a handful of blueberries
  • Lunch: casserole with vegetables and grated cheese
  • Snack: a handful of unsalted almonds
  • Dinner: zucchini soup condensed by itself (or other vegetables)
